Qingyue Xue joined the University of Exeter in 2022 to start her PhD at ECEHH. Her research is on migration, population health, environmental psychology, urban nature, and geography. The aim is to explore how urban nature affects migrants’ health, well-being, and sense of place.
Prior to coming to the University of Exeter, she worked as a landscape architect, undertaking landscape planning and design work in some of China’s most important cities. She received an MA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Sheffield from 2018-2020 and prior to that a BA in Environmental Design with Distinction from the Beijing University of Technology. She focuses on how urban landscapes and spaces affect the health, well-being, sense of place and belonging of different social groups。
Qingyue Xue advocates for healthy urban living through urban place-making and landscape design for vulnerable groups with large migrant populations. Her designs advocate urban spaces and streetscapes with well-developed pedestrian systems and urban nature with restorative and healing features. While promoting physical and spiritual well-being and reducing the city’s carbon emissions, the project will bring the daily life of the urban population into a virtuous cycle.
