Climate Change and Environmental Pathogens
In the BlueAdapt project, ECEHH staff are investigating the impact of climate change on environmental pathogens. This project is one of six Horizon Europe projects aiming to deliver evidence to policy makers on the impact of climate change on health.
The ECEHH team are involved across the project, including working on horizon scanning, working in labs to investigate the impact of temperature and UV on the survival of bacteria, estimating the health impacts of exposure to pathogens, working on case studies to evaluate early warning systems and the Local Climate Adaptation Tool, conducting cost-benefit analysis of options and leading on the communication.
BlueAdapt is likely to be influential in impacting our understanding of the needs to adapt to changes in microbial communities in response to climate and environmental change.
