Qingyue Xue is a PhD student focusing on urban nature and migrants’ mental health. Qingyue completed her undergraduate studies in environment design at Beijing University of Technology, followed by a master’s degree in landscape architecture at the University of Sheffield. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked as a landscape architect in Shanghai, where she gained practical experience in urban design and public space creation. Her career has encompassed both practical urban planning projects and academic investigations that aim to contribute to a more inclusive and health-promoting environment.

Qingyue’s professional and academic journey has been shaped by a passion for addressing urban challenges through design. Her research interests focus on urban nature, mental health, and social integration, particularly among migrant groups. Her work blends interdisciplinary insights from urban planning & design, mental health, and environmental psychology to explore the role of wellbeing and a sense of place. Combining quantitative and qualitative methods, her study aims to explore urban design interventions and strategies both from breadth and depth to create inclusive urban environments that support mental wellbeing. Broader research interests include environmental justice, health inequality, therapeutic landscape, pedestrian-friendly environments, and the role of urban planning in fostering belonging and resilient communities.
