A consortium of researchers from The Universities of Sheffield, Plymouth, Exeter and Sheffield Hallam have been funded to evaluate a one year extension to the Government’s flagship Green Social Prescribing test and learn pilots programme. This evaluation builds on the initial phase, which you can explore here.
What is Green Social Prescribing?
Green social prescribing connects people with nature-based activities to support mental and physical well-being. Through social prescribing and community-based support, GPs, healthcare professionals, and local agencies can refer individuals to link workers who take the time to understand what matters most to each person. For many, this results in participating in green social prescribing activities such as such as local walking for health schemes, community gardening and food-growing projects.
Upcoming Activities
We have two specific pieces of work coming up as part of this project:
Feasibility Study: Assessing the practicality and impact of expanding green social prescribing initiatives
Participant Interviews: Gaining insights from individuals engaged in green social prescribing activities
